Levi's bike

We had given Levi a balance bike for his birthday.  (That's the kind that has no pedals.)  But he never used it until this week.  Being the cautious boy he is, his trips with the bike were short to start with.  Now he can steer it pretty far, but he is still just walking with the bike between his legs.  He hasn't tried sitting on the seat and walking.  We're taking it slow, but he seems to be enjoying it and building his confidence.

Levi has also been really accident-prone this week.  So tonight after he rode his bike, he forgot to take his helmet off.  I confess I felt a lot better about having him run around the yard and poke around behind the shed wearing a helmet!

Six Months Old

Baby Micah is now a big six-month-old!  He has been growing by leaps and bounds lately.  He can sit up all on his own, he works really hard to grab and chew his toys, he has started eating rice cereal, and he talks so much!  His sounds are funny, too.  It seems like he is constantly experimenting with new ways to make sound.  His favorite as of late is a loud, high-pitched, prolonged squeal.  I'm glad he's happy, but sometimes it's a bit much.  He is also very interested in other people and always smiles when people talk to him.

At our routine doctor's visit yesterday, Micah measured 27 inches tall (about 65th percentile), 17 pounds 3 ounces (about 45th percentile), and a head circumference of 42.5 centimeters (about 20th percentile).  He seems like he is getting bigger every day.  Last night he was playing in his exersaucer, and I looked over and one of his knees was touching the bottom.  Guess it's time to raise the apparatus a notch!

We just love our happy little boy!

First time sitting in the grass--and the first time I felt I could walk away from him
when he was sitting up.  He lasted several minutes and never tipped over.

First time in an outdoor "pool."  Unfortunately, this tub we were given
doesn't really hold water.  Oh well!  The boys had fun anyway!

"You're going to feed me WHAT?"

"Rice cereal!  I've been waiting for months to eat some solid food!  Gimme that spoon!"

July Fourth

For the Fourth of July this year, we went to Nathan's Aunt Donna and Uncle Orv's house; however, they have moved to Indianola, Washington (next to Bainbridge Island).  It's actually Nathan's cousins Lisa and Dave's vacation home, but Donna and Orv live there as caretakers.  Anyway, the house is right on the Sound, so we had a ton of fun playing on the beach.  We had such a wonderful time with the whole family!  Most of the cousins had yet to meet Micah, and, thankfully, both boys were well-behaved and easy during the day.

The school-aged kids were proud of their sand castle.

Donna played ukulele and sang to Levi.  He LOVED it!!!
He kept asking her to sing over and over again.  As Bob said, "Sing it, Sister!"

One of Micah's new skills is his ability to suck on his own toes.  He has also started seriously grabbing whatever is in reach and getting frustrated if he can't reach what he wants.  He laughs at Levi all the time--which makes Levi laugh.  And he has been very vocal, with a broadening range of expressions.  His energetic personality is really coming out, and it's so fun!
