That's My Boy!

This morning at choir practice, I gave the singers their starting pitches for our introit.  Often when the pitches are given, singers hum their pitch to make sure they start on the right note.  (This is a really bad habit.)  Today, however, after I gave the pitches, Levi sang the women's note!  It was his first time matching pitch!  We've definitely got a little singer in the making!

Food, Glorious Food!

When Levi turned six months old, we started him on solid foods.  His first food was rice cereal.  After a week of rice, he tried oatmeal, which he usually scarfs down.  After another week, we introduced acorn squash.  It took him a couple of days to get used to that vegetable--he made a few crazy faces--but now he likes it well enough.  This evening we introduced peas, and he adapted to that right away.  So far this boy really likes to eat!  (This is not a big surprise.)

Swimming in a Real Pool

. . . Well, it's a baby bumblebee pool, so it's not exactly a real pool, but it beats his infant bathtub!

Back in June, when we had our first sunny, warm day, I bought Levi his swim trunks and a swim shirt.  I called Nathan and asked him to pick up a baby pool on his way home.  We were all ready to play in a wading pool!  The only problem was Levi couldn't sit up!  (Four months old is not the best time to teach someone how to float on his back.)  He is now a very reliable sitter, so we finally got to break out the bumblebee.

Playground

The other day, we went to Vashon and Maury Islands with my mother, Uncle Doug, Kevin, Evan, and Olivia.  While the guys were fishing off a dock, the ladies played with Levi on a playground.  He really enjoyed his first time on the swing.

A big swing for a little guy, but he sure had fun!

Sometimes I wonder why he's interested in certain things.  The ground?  Really?  Okay!

Levi played these chimes.

He wasn't too sure about the slide, but it didn't seem to bother him.  Next I tried going down with him on my lap, but, unfortunately, I got stuck on the slide.  Nice!

More Beach Pictures

Kevin took these photos at Dash Point State Park.

Whoa!  Check out that drool!  Sorry, Levi.  This shot is definitely future blackmail material.

Beach

Yesterday the whole family went out to Dash Point State Park to play in the beach.  We had a great time!

The water was cold!

Kevin spends a lot of time behind his viewfinder.

It was such a gorgeous day!

Ann, Doug, and Olivia are here visiting from Boston.  Evan is coming soon.  Other than Andrew, Mary Robert, and Claire, the whole clan was there.

Maddie played while Jill, Amy, and John looked on.

Olivia tried on Levi's hat.  Why did it fit so well?

Six Months Old

Levi turned six months old yesterday, and he has accomplished several milestones just in the last two weeks.  He now has two teeth, he can sit up without support, he is learning to put himself to sleep in the evening, and he had his very first solid food!  Wow!

This morning's doctor's appointment involved immunizations and a blood draw--poor guy!--but we learned that he weighs 17 pounds 1 ounce, he is 28 inches tall, and his head circumference is 43.5 centimeters.  That puts him in about the 45th percentile for weight and the 92nd percentile for height.  Surprise!  Tall and slender like his parents--well, his dad at least.

Here are some fun photos we've taken recently.
