New faces

My cousin Evan and his girlfriend Swapna have been visiting from Boston for the past week.  It has been wonderful to see them, and they are SO great with Levi.  We saw Evan this last summer, but for all Levi knows, these are two new people.

Levi has also been practicing using a fork and spoon for meals.  He doesn't seem to mind them, and he can handle them alright; however, they just aren't as efficient at getting food into his mouth as his fists are.  This used to be oatmeal with pureed blueberries.  The spoon is on the floor.  Yikes!

I Love a Piano

I don't know of a single kid who hasn't loved playing around on a piano.  Levi is no exception.  He's been tickling the eighty-eights since he was two months old, but now he's big enough to sit on the bench all by himself.  His favorite part is turning on the auto-play and having a fabulous Chopin piece play for him.

12-Month Doctor Visit

We had our one-year check-up today.  Levi is 31.5 inches tall (about 92nd percentile), 24 lbs, 4 oz (about 72nd percentile), and his head is 47 cm (about 70th percentile).  He has gained exactly seven pounds in the last three months!  I think we can attribute that to the fact that he finally stopped spitting up.  The poor boy is just getting over a nasty cold, though, so it has been a pretty long weekend.

And we're off!

Levi may have walked on Christmas Day, but now he is really gaining confidence.
It is so fun to watch our little toddler walk around the house!

Levi's Indoor Bike

At long last!  Here is a video clip of Levi that I was able to post to the blog.  This is from January 21st, so he was 11 1/2 months old.  He is playing on his indoor bike, and you can hear that he is pushing the buttons.

One Year Old!

Today Levi officially turned one!  He is growing up so much!  Lately he has really enjoyed reading books with me.  He chooses a book from the shelf, walks it over to the couch, turns the pages, closes the book, and walks back over to the bookshelf for another book.  We do this over and over until the bookshelf is nearly empty.  He still loves to play with balls, but he is starting to become interested in many new things.  Fortunately he received lots of new things for his birthday!  Here are a few pictures of our one-year-old boy.

Happy Birthday, Levi!!!

First Birthday Party

We had Levi's birthday party yesterday.  Wow!  What a big day!  Levi had a lot of fun, and Nathan and I are so happy that Levi's dear friends and family came to help us celebrate!  Our theme was blue and brown circles and stripes.  Aside from the decorations, the food matched the theme, too: round chicken patties, round chips with salsa, grapes and blueberries, carrot and celery sticks, pretzel rods, blue jello circles. . . .  (I know.  I'm a big dork!)  Levi LOVED his cake!  After shoveling handfuls of it into his mouth, he very meticulously picked up every little crumb that was left on his tray.  Thank you all SO MUCH for your love and support over this past wonderful year!

So many gifts!  Here are Grandpa, Grannie, Kevin, and Auntie Jill.

At the table are Great Grannie, Great Grandpa, Marcus, Great
Grandma.  Behind them are John, Carmen, Madison, and Amy.

Chuck and Marie Hayden joined us as well.
Not pictured are: Aunt Stephanie,  Uncle Stephen, Bass, and Vivienne
Happy birthday to you!
