Life at home

We have had two doctor's appointments since we left the hospital, and Micah is doing great! He was 8 lbs 2 oz at birth, and when he was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, he had dropped to 7 lbs 8 oz. By Tuesday's pediatrician visit, he was up to 7 lbs 11 oz. The following Wednesday he tipped the scales at 8 lbs 12 oz., and he measured 21.5 inches--an inch more than his birth length. He still sleeps a lot, so we love it when he's awake, alert, and happy. He usually wakes up twice at night to eat, about 1:00 and 5:00. He has a long wakeful period in the late morning and an even longer time in the evening. So far, he has adapted really well to life in the Gorham household. The only problem that has me worried is his dislike of riding in the double stroller! I've only tried taking Levi and Micah for a walk twice, and Micah screamed practically the whole time. Levi kept looking at him like, "What is your problem?" That was kind of funny, but it's upsetting that the only form of exercise I'm allowed to do is walk, and I can't really walk with a screaming baby. Hopefully he'll grow out of this phase soon because I am planning on using that jogging stroller a lot!

Here are some photos of Micah during the past week.
Ethan and Garret were finally able to come over and meet Micah (with Stephanie, of course).

 Such good cousins!

Grandpa Garret stopped by for a morning visit.
Micah decided to sleep in a crunched up little ball.
My dad had actually stopped by on his way to the hospital in Olympia.  My grandfather, Harold, has been either there or in nursing care for several weeks.  On Wednesday he was given just hours or days to live.  On Thursday morning, I packed up the boys and went to see Grandpa one last time.  Although it was a short visit, I'm so glad I got to visit with Grandma.  Grandpa's room was crowded with us, my dad, Aunt Maureen and cousin Marcus.  It was poignant to bring my 13-day old baby to Grandpa's bedside.  Apparently Levi, who walked around the hallways with my dad while the rest of us were talking, was making friends with all the nurses on duty.  What a charmer!

For over a year, I've been taking Levi over to Bob's house on Thursdays.  We have lunch together
and a nice visit with Stephanie and her boys.  Now Micah gets to enjoy the company as well!
Here the four boys posed for a picture with Grandpa.

Before his first real bath - quiet and content

During the bath - not so happy

After the bath - much better.
We loved his fuzzy hair!

 Pretty cute, right?

P.S. Grandpa died on Saturday afternoon.

Micah Photos

Here are some photos of Micah from when we were still in the hospital.  We had lots of wonderful visitors!  We're especially grateful to Kevin for coming and taking pictures again.
Poor Grandpa had a cold, so he had to wear a mask.

Levi gets a good look at "beebee."

Micah doesn't like being undressed

There are his eyes!  Still wondering what color they will eventually be.

Such a loving father!

Welcome, Micah Robert Gorham!

Praise the Lord!  Micah Robert Gorham was born on Friday, January 11th, 2013, at 7:56 A.M.  He weighed eight pounds, two ounces, and he was 20 1/2 inches long.  The cesarean section delivery went well, and we spent two nights in the hospital.
Our new little bundle of joy!

So small!

Levi met his younger brother for the first time.  He showed a passing interest in the baby.

An overjoyed family of four!

23 Months Old

Here is a shot of Levi on January 7th, his 23-month milestone.

Catching Up

I had a little trouble with the blog, and then the holidays happened.  So I'm just getting around to posting more pictures now.  Let's start with Levi's 22-month milestone picture, taken on December 7th.
Some fun in the snow!
Levi enjoyed making the gingerbread house . . . until he discovered that the pieces taste good.
Then he stopped working and started eating!  I don't know how many graham crackers, gum drops, and jelly beans he ate while I was hurrying to finish the house and put everything away!
We went to Watson's Nursery to see the live reindeer, and Levi decided to pose for a photo.
Wandering through the forest to cut down our Christmas tree
Discovering his stocking on Christmas morning
The three of us on Christmas Day at Bob's house
Levi and Maddie were both wearing reindeer pajamas, so we had to pose for a picture at Grannie's on Christmas night.
It's hard to see, but Levi is blowing into a Christmas ornament shaped like a French horn.  We had a similar ornament on our tree, and he "played" it for hours everyday!
On December 26th, Andrew, Mary Robert, Claire, and Paige arrived for their week-long visit.  Here's Paige at 14 months.
I gave Claire this dress, and she insisted on wearing it immediately.
Levi got this new knitted hat.  He didn't seem to mind having it covering his eyes.  He actually left it like this and wandered around the room for several minutes.  Goofy boy!
The cousin line-up: Maddie, Claire, Levi, Paige
The mommy line-up: me, Mary Robert, Amy
The daddy/uncle line-up: John, Kevin, Nathan, Andrew
The annual Hayden-Gorham music night was the 29th.  Everyone enjoyed getting out their old band instruments and playing Christmas carols.  Here is Bob on baritone, Nathan on French horn, Steve and Dan on trumpet.
Chuck on piano, Brian on trombone, Jackie, Stephanie, and Levi on vocals.
Tiffany, Becky, Abby, and Phil on clarinet
 Playing with Paige
 Andrew and his girls
How sweet of Claire to help Levi up the stairs!  They had just finished a marathon session of running around the house.

These were great holidays!  I can hardly wait until next year!
